Two just Bi-friended

Inspired by "To Love and be Bi-Loved".
Love and Friendship are games with countless variants.
“That’s when I realized what a true friend was. Someone who would always love you,
the imperfect you, the confused you, the wrong you, because that is what people are supposed to do.”

The vicar's child and the mayor's daughter are adults and best friends.
They know each other from school, church and the choir.
Together with their parents, they are in the public spotlight.
Their actions and statements are closely observed and critically evaluated.
If they meet up with friends and are seen doing so, this leads to rumors.
This is a hindrance and a burden for new friendships or even relationships, as hardly any young men are prepared to get involved.
Their parents also forbid them to meet men and anything else that could lead to this.
They are allowed to meet girls in order to take part in christian activities that please God.
But only at home, for example, to do handicrafts together, write poems, play the piano, paint pictures, study for exams and listen to music.
They also tailor clothes and then try them on. That's why they are also allowed to lock the door.
Dressing and undressing is exhausting, and breaks to relax are well deserved.
The bible says "love your neighbor as yourself".
There is no need for guilt, just prudence, privacy and discretion.
