A cadet at the US Air Force Academy is waiting to pick up her AI flight instructor module. She is about to take her final exam to become a pilot of an optional fully autonomous AI-controlled air superiority fighter with vector control for scramjet engines. The module is also the key to the $120 million most advanced aircraft in the US, equipped with a small attack and defence laser. The module acts as co-pilot and weapons systems specialist with a calm, friendly voice. She has undergone 12 months of training to prepare her for all kinds of situations, from routine flights to offensive and defensive missions, on sight and at a safe distance. She is now capable of carrying out complex missions alone or in formation, deflecting and evading missiles, escaping or taking up an optimal firing position in close combat behind, above or below an attacker - with and above all without the help of the AI module. Even when inactive, the module is always ready to take corrective or rescue action if the situation requires it, in order to complete missions successfully, support and protect the expensive national asset and its young pilot, and, if possible, bring them back to base alive and unharmed.
Katya is the eldest child of emigrants from Eastern Europe. Her father is an aerospace engineer. Her mother is a lecturer in theoretical computer science. She immediately caught the attention of many teachers with her amazing manual skills and quick comprehension as well as her extensive specialised knowledge in breadth and depth. She has been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome at the upper end of the spectrum. Her measured IQ is off the scale and is reported as beyond 200+. She is very resilient to physical and psychological stress, highly resistant to injury and infection, needs little sleep and works with focus and highly efficiency. She eats a healthy diet and is sporty slilmfit. Thanks to her petite slender figure, she has successfully competed in many sports at a high level, including Olympic pentathlon, marathons, martial arts, zen archery, craw maga, many ball sports, chess, go and kinds of e-sports where fast reactions are required. When Katya passed her final exams at the age of 15 with top marks after skipping several classes in a gifted and talented exam, she came to the attention of the US government.
Her parents allowed her to be declared of age to take part in a special programme, but after she graduated, differences arose about which no exact details are known. She then moved from El Paso to California for some time to study neuroinformatics and robotics. After completing her doctorates, she moved to a Western European metropolis, where she has been conducting research at institutes ever since. What exactly is known only to her colleagues. Close friends can only make vague assumptions.
